Diddy: The Reckoning - An Inside Peek into Sean Combs' Diminished Stardom
- Dec 1, 2025
Netflix has dropped the trailer for its new documentary series, “Diddy: The Reckoning”. Produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and helmed by Emmy-winning director Alexandria Stapleton, this four-part series dives deep into the rise, fall, and trials of media maven and music icon, Sean Combs. The series is described as an expansive probe into the life of the business tycoon and notorious convict. Earlier this year, Combs was found guilty on two charges related to promoting prostitution, while evading the three graver indictments against him - two for sex trafficking and one for racketeering.
The freshly released trailer opens with candid footage of Diddy, captured six days prior to his arrest in September 2024, voicing his concerns over a call: “We need to find someone who will work with us who has worked in the dirtiest of dirty businesses. We are losing.” Later, a glimpse into the Combs' past is shown, where he is heard stating: “Everything in life you are going to have people that are bad and people that are good. You have to choose your side.”
Alexandria Stapleton, speaking on this shocking turn of events said, "Observing giants in music and film undergo trial was insightful. When Cassie withdrew her lawsuit against Combs, I realized it could take any number of turns," she confided with Tudum. "What gave her the courage to face an industry giant like Sean Combs? This case is the litmus test of the cultural shift we’ve undergone and our ability to objectively analyze such serious accusations.”
Stapleton further added that the story transcends Sean Combs and his actions, extending to the alleged victims and the entirety of the trial. "Primarily, this narrative is a reflection of us, the audience, and speaks volumes about our tendencies to idolize celebrities. My hope is that this documentary serves as an alarm clock for the often misguided idolization of celebrities, reminding that they are as human as the rest of us."
Netflix reveals that the series incorporates private footage, recorded with Combs' consent, from the week preceding his arrest and formal charge. It was taken during an ongoing federal inquiry into his matters. The series will present interviews with a range of individuals including former band-member Aubrey O’Day of Danity Kane and individuals who served on the jury during Combs' trial earlier this year.
“Diddy: The Reckoning” will first be aired on December 2, only on Netflix. Be sure to watch the official trailer below.
